History
Friends of Ghana, Inc. was established in 2003. This
non-profit corporation is our response to the needs we observed and
those brought to our attention during a July 2002 mission trip to rural
villages in the western region of Ghana, West Africa. Ghana
Mission 2002 involved 31 persons from various cities and towns across
the state of Massachusetts and Ghanaian nationals. Subsequent
mission efforts conducted during July/August 2003 and July/August 2004
included individuals from Maine, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
Involvement and support of those throughout the U.S. continues to grow.
Organizational Structure
Friends of Ghana, Inc. is a
non-profit corporation comprised of individuals in the United States
interested in providing social and economic assistance to those in need in
Ghana, West Africa; it was established in 2003. The corporation’s primary
focus is alleviating poverty and improving the quality of life for Ghanaians
through the establishment and support of cottage industries involving native
resources, goods, and services.
Friends of Ghana Outreach is the Ghanaian counterpart to
Friends of Ghana, Inc. It is the
equivalent of a non-profit corporation there, and its leadership assists in
identifying economic and social service needs and opportunities...
