Those involved with Friends of Ghana, Inc., the non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation responsible for coordinating Ghana Mission 2008, are committed to providing a holistic approach to helping those in need in Ghana, West Africa.

A new mission team has been formed which will depart for Ghana on July 20th and return on August 3rd. Mission team members include laypersons from all walks of life. Although some members have participated in past efforts, no prior mission experience is necessary — just a willingness to serve others.

Goals for Mission 2008: 20 July - 3 August

  • Village Medical ClinicsArrange for free medical care and medications through Ghanaian doctors and nurses for those in some remote villages in the western region of Ghana, West Africa.
  • Orphanage Assistance: Coordinate a medical clinic at OOEIM orphanage in Elmina and provide some meals for the children there.
  • Scholarship  AssistanceContinue partial funding for Senior Secondary School (high school)students who need scholarship aid.
  • Construction: Support construction efforts on a village chapel.
  • School Uniforms: Fund school uniforms for needy primary school children at Busua.
  • Micro Loans: Evaluate and possibly expand micro loans to empower women in Azani.
  • Mosquito Nets: Purchase and distribution of bed nets to those living in area villages to combat the spread of malaria
